My dad "forced" my bro & I to go for driving lessons when I was around 22 yrs old. I remember how I often dreaded going for lessons. I was never very good with all things practical and requiring coordination. So, as one can guess, I had quite abit of problem learning to drive manual cars.
But, looking back, obtaining the driver's license is one of the greatest blessings my dad gave me. I mean if he didn't sponsor the lessons, I would probably have never found the impetus to sign up on my own.
Dad recently commented that one of his regrets was sponsoring our driving lessons. I'm guessing it's because, besides the few thousand dollars I had blew...failing twice...he also had to top up more dollars to help me get a car, and so generously helping me with the occasional insurance payments and carpark charges. Well...what can I say, I have one of the best dads in the world!!
Last week I was offloaded from driving. A certain someone practically ferried me to and from work every day. But, by Thursday, I had a craving to drive on my own, and took my bro out to go pump petrol, even though it was pretty late in the night.
I often told people I don't like to drive -- which is still true. But, I guess, one doesn't know how much they like something until that is taken away from them. Right now, one of the things I miss most is listening to my playlist in my 12 disc CD player. I can't wait to check out the four new CDs I just got! However, on the flipside, I don't miss parking, or having to exert energy and attention to drive myself to work each morning.
Well, I should be back to the driving rountine from tomorrow onwards. Looking forward to more musical delights, and having control within my own hands!! Muahahaha...
hmmm.. me dropping by!
