Insensitive guys do not score with gals

Subject of the day: Valentine's Day. Hence, on a related issue, write a little about guy-gal interactions.

V-Day morning and I entered the office lift.

At one of the floors, the lift opened, and this lady, whom I've seen around before, came in. If you ask me, I think she looked pretty good with her new perm. For some reason, I think it's quite hard for ladies to pull off perms on shorter hair (i.e. abv shoulder length), but I thought she looked sophisticated and refreshing.

She greeted the other two people in the lift, whom she knew. One of the two people - a lady, complimented her on her new perm. However, the other person - a guy, IMMEDIATELY said, "Do you know what you could have done to make it look better?".

I was startled. I thought, what's wrong with this guy. How on earth can you talk to a lady and start with a comment like that?!

He continued badgering the poor lady with the nice perm with the same question a few more times, before launching into a professional sounding preaching on how if she had highlighted her hair she would have looked even better. He even went on to say that the perm alone was nice, but without highlight dull....blah blah...dunno what other insensitive remarks.

At that point, my eyes nearly rolled out in exasperation.

This guy is just a normal looking bloke, not very trendily dressed, with normal crew cut hairstyle. It's not like he's a metrosexual in-tuned with all things fashionable and stylish. Just a normal bloke, making the most insensitive comments I've ever heard from a guy to a girl.

In any case, I do not think I will ever take fashion or styling comments from a guy too seriously. I mean, what do men know right? And what on earth is this guy thinking, that he knows more about women hairstyling than this lady?! I was quite infuriated by the obnoxiousness of this guy.

The lady with the new perm was however quite gracious and did not lash back at him. She did exit shortly, and still managed to be cordial with him.

Then, the guy turned to the other lady friend, and said, "I very mean hor?". And went on to make reference to another guy whom he thinks would have been even more direct in his comments, and appraised himself for having dished out his advice from a professional sounding stand-point.

What a load of ...

I continued rolling my eyes in my heart, and wondered if this guy got a date tonight.
