Azumanga Daioh

One thursday night, I was not yet ready to sleep and decided to turn on the tv to watch. While channel surfing, I came across a cute Japanese Cartoon on Arts Central. The scene was depicting how a teacher was jealous of another teacher who received a birthday gift, but she didn't. The jealous teacher was acting so crazy, screaming loudy, and behaving so unprofessionally, that it made me watch on. Afterall, alot of times, comedy is about inappropriateness - inappropriate words, inappropriate actions. Inappropriate = Unexpected = Funny Ha-ha.

The cartoon is called Azumanga Daioh. Wikipedia does a good job describing and giving an overview of the comic. Some of the characters are really cute, and they each have their personality and add a different story to the show. My favourite is Osaka. She's a super daydreamer, and it's her daydreaming that is really hilarious. Second favourite would be Tomo, who proved to be such an irritant in the second episode I caught on Arts Central the following week. She was repeating one word description or name of thing, non-stop. E.g. Okinawa, Okinawa, Okinawa, Okinawa, Okinawa....and so on.
