What motivates you? (To work out..)
My bro has been going around influencing everyone around him to exercise. He drags his gf to go jogging. He even drags his good friends to go jogging. Needless to say, as his sister, I suffered the fate of being his original hamster - whom he drags to go to the local gym.
Seeing that I was home Sunday evening (I was busy writing my report), he tried to motivate me to get out of the house and work out. Guess what is his motivational technique (one of them anyway)? By....*drumroll*.....get this.....WATCHING "DOA" - the movie otherwise known as Dead Or Alive. The rationale behind it is that seeing all the guys and gals with their killer bods fight and flaunt in the movie, any other person watching the show will feel so lousy about their own flabs that they get motivated to start exercising. Well, it didn't work for me.
Seeing that I was unmoved by the motivational video, he asked, "What motivates you?!". Thinking awhile, I realised I've been less motivated these days to do exercise. I realised, I was motivated by.....*drumroll*....get this....MY OWN FATS!
Last year, I was so upset by my own thickening waist and the apparent ease of how I was putting on weight, I put myself on an exercise routine in late June. It worked! And so far, though a little pudgy on the sides, it's not getting bad enuf to get me super-motivated to work out on a regular basis.
That said, I realised another form of motivation came, when I watched tv and read about these 40-something and even 50-something women looking very good, svelte body and all. Makes me conclude that, anyone can achieve it...just gotta work for it (though I probably draw the line at cosmetic surgery).
Current fitness icon: Demi Moore. I mean she's a hot momma with a boyfriend 16 yrs younger than her...that's gotta count for something. She has recently dethroned Jennifer Garner (aka Syd in Alias) as my Fitness Icon. I mean...it just was not cool to watch a pregnant spy running around trying to save the world. I found myself getting worried whenever I watch her in Alias Season 5.
Yar...me and my rubbish "Hollywood takeaways".
