Workplace humour is BIG
Dilbert was big when i was still a student. At least, I think it came into prominence during that "era". Back then, I couldn't fully appreciate it. I mean, it's quite cute and funny. But I didn't understand why huge hordes of people love it and rave about it.
However, nowadays, when I do see Dilbert comics, I can better understand and appreciate the jokes. Perhaps because now I know and have experienced the office culture and the funny things that go on at work.
No wonder sitcoms that are based on the work environment are the biggest hits in recent years. The Office. Ugly Betty. 30 Rock.
Anyway, here's some free publicity for 30 Rock. Its a very witty comedy. The writers and actors are just fantastic. I caught it's first episode
around the same time as the first week I watched Ugly Betty. Hands down, 30 Rock is the funnier show. Well, at least that the brand of humour I like. 30 minutes of fast and furious lines. You'll love the nightmarish boss, the always in some sort of trouble Producer (caught in the middle)...and the rest of the sideshow bobs - e.g. the bimbo lead actress, the eccentric african american lead actor, the grinny assistant.

Why it's called 30 Rock? It's actually the address of the building that the tv show is situated. It's in New York City. It's at Rockefeller Centre. And in No. 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Apparently GE owns the building or something like that. In fact, I wonder if GE sponsors the show 'cuz they are featured quite abit. One episode had them mention a GE tri-vectional oven, and another has Liz and Jack argue 'cuz Liz interrupted Jack while he was entertaining some high-power GE execs.
Catch it on Starhub, Channel 18, Starworld, every Thursday night, 9 pm.
PS: Btw folks, I got a new balenciaga bag - courtesy of mom. I think she got sick of watching her daughter carry a crummy bag. It's not the motocycle bag, but it's elegant and sophisticated. Though I feel old carrying it. I'm (suppose to be) young and trendy!
