One more thing about/ from the Passion Conference
We are really glad we went for the Conference. I think venturing out, sometimes broaden our minds and perspectives. I learnt and hope to see BES improve in so many areas about our worship. For one, multimedia is powerful, and I don't quite know how at this point, but this is certainly one area I hope to see and hopefully can in some way contribute to improve at BES.
The other thing was the reminder that there are so many good new songs out there. At one point, it almost seems like we reject all contemporary songs, simply because they have shallow music and inappropriate music. But, besides the not so great reason of using modern songs to capture the attention or interests of youths, I think there is always movement in our understanding of God, our expression of worship unto God, and this movement is sometimes expressed through these newer, contemporary songs, that we shouldn't simply neglect totally. It's been kinda boring singing the same ol' songs all the time.
I learnt a new song at the conference. It's a song by Hillsongs (not traditionally one of my faves). It's one of the key/ anchor songs, as Ashley mentioned it in her journal and tied in really well with the message of grace, salvation, hope. I too want to print the lyrics here. You can be sure, I'll be looking to buy an album with this song.
Mighty to Save
Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
A kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations
My Saviour
He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to Save
He is Mighty to Save
Forever
Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender
Shine Your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen King
